On Monday (18.12.2023), Chilean Customs announced the signing of a framework cooperation agreement with the Federico Santa María Technical University, whose headquarters are located in Valparaíso.
The agreement reached between the National Director of Customs, Alejandra Arriaza, and the Rector of the Federico Santa María Technical University (UTFSM), Juan Yuz, seeks to strengthen ties between both institutions.
Thus, the signed document will allow Customs to become more involved in areas of development and research, giving it more tools to the audit service, dependent on the Ministry of Finance, to face the challenges that they have in the current context of the country.
“This agreement will undoubtedly be very beneficial for both institutions; it opens up a virtuous field of collaboration that will allow us to better face the challenges that lie ahead. Inter-institutional collaboration is essential to address the problems that afflict us today as a society,” said Alejandra Arriaza in a statement.
"It is impossible for one institution to face the multiple challenges that arise on its own, which is why I thank the team from both institutions for being here today signing this agreement. As Customs, we are looking forward to launching this exchange of knowledge, technical and academic development that will arise from the collaboration of our two institutions," added the official.
Meanwhile, the rector of the Federico Santa María Technical University, Juan Yuz, highlighted that “a year ago, we explored various possibilities for mutual collaboration, and today we celebrate the formalization of an agreement that not only establishes concrete parameters, but also gives us the possibility of periodically evaluating your activity. As an institution, we are very pleased to be able to mark this milestone together with you.”
In general terms, the Framework Agreement for Cooperation between Customs and the USM will allow collaboration in mutual projects, sharing knowledge and experiences, providing professional development opportunities, internships, and practices for students and access academic and theoretical knowledge.
