The 14th WTO Ministerial Conference brings together trade ministers from 166 countries in Cameroon

Trade ministers from the 166 member countries of the World Trade Organization (WTO) have begun arriving in Yaoundé, Cameroon, to participate in the 14th Ministerial Conference (MC14), which will be held from March 26 to 29, 2026, as seen in the video released today by the organization. The conference will be chaired by Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, Cameroon's Minister of Trade.

The 14th session of the WTO's Multilateral Agreement (MC14) is the WTO's highest decision-making body and is held every two years. This session will bring together ministers and delegations from around the world to discuss the challenges of multilateral trade and define the organization's work agenda.

Unlike previous conferences, MC14 will not be evaluated by new agreements, but by the capacity of governments to Strengthen a rules-based systemconsolidating the implementation of recent agreements and advancing pending negotiations.

Main themes:

  • WTO reform: Adaptation to geopolitical fragmentation, climate change, technological transformation and industrial policies.
  • Green industrial policies: International cooperation to promote sustainability and development.
  • Digital commerce: Decision on the moratorium customs duties on electronic commerce and possible incorporation of the Plurilateral Agreement on Electronic Commerce into the WTO framework.
  • Agriculture and fisheries subsidies: Progress in pending negotiations and attention to less developed countries.

In a global context marked by geopolitical tensions and technological transformation, MC14 will be central for the WTO to reaffirm its role as a central forum for cooperation and coordination in international trade.
