Customs Administration experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) recognized the Uruguay Customs as “a model to follow in the region regarding Post Clearance Audit”, the entity reported this Wednesday (05.08.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX).
"The Post-Dispatch Audit is the result of a set of post-dispatch control procedures carried out by the work teams that make up the Foreign Trade Operations Inspection Division," explains the release. And it points out that "its main function is the validation of the declarations made by the different foreign trade operators before the National Customs Directorate."
According to the agency, these audits are carried out at the importer's or trader's premises. There, Customs reviews the imports made over a period of time and analyzes all relevant commercial records, including bank statements and contracts, to verify the information presented in the goods declaration.
From the Uruguayan Customs they emphasize that the DNA's Tax Division has been ISO 9001 certified since 2014, being the only customs office in Latin America and the Caribbean to have this certification. and receiving the award for commitment to Public Management at the national level in 2016.

On July 30, the National Director of Customs, Jaime Borgiani, spoke at the “Webinar on Post-Customs Clearance Audit”, an event organized by the International Monetary Fund through the Regional Technical Assistance Center for Central America, Panama and the Dominican Republic of the International Monetary Fund (CAPTAC-DR/IMF).

The IMF experts also recognized the multidisciplinary composition and specialization of the teams carried out by the DNA and its Audit Division, in addition to highlighting the traceability and auditability of the process through the MANTIS system.
