Uruguay urges not to go on shopping trips to cities bordering Brazil

-

The Government of Uruguay suggests not making shopping trips to cities bordering Brazil, the Customs said on Wednesday (17.06.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX).

El release points out that "taking into account the current health emergency and the appearance of advertisements on various communication platforms offering shopping excursions to border cities with Brazil, The National Customs Directorate reminds that the regulation remains fully in force General Resolution 23/2020 which establishes the application of the Zero Kilo, which implies eliminating the special benefit regimes for tourists such as those for the entry of luggage, effects and tourist vehicles."

The text also "reiterates that this measure does not cover the population residing in border areas for whom the border traffic regime remains unchanged."

"Therefore, to avoid the seizure of merchandise in violation of customs and the corresponding filing of a smuggling complaint, the National Customs Directorate urges the population not to make purchases in cities bordering Brazil, thus respecting current regulations," the statement concludes.
