7 million dollars of investment, 5 access lanes for tourists, a specific service for buses and a circulation and parking area for trucks that will not hinder, as it does now, the traffic of cars. The Cujó company will have a period of 16 months for the execution of the first stage of works on the San Martín bridge, which has been inaugurated for 17 years, according to the Montevideo newspaper El País.

The Border Crossing Agency, responsible for managing the Integrated Control Area, had 12 officials 59 years ago and currently has only 24. In a few days, 18 seasonal workers will join the Immigration staff.

Dissatisfied customs agents

Shippers and transporters were recently informed that in less than a month they must leave what has been their headquarters for 20 years without any clarity about their destination and the necessary capacity to house them. This situation can cause serious disruption to the 300 to 400 trucks with electronic forms and in continuous connection with State agencies that they cross the San Martín bridge.

A naval base for the San Martin bridge

Uruguay's Defense Minister Jorge Menéndez announced that, in parallel with the restructuring of the international bridge, the Navy has decided to build a naval base, which will allow for better control of the border and navigation on the Uruguay River.
