A Uruguayan and an Argentine passenger were arrested with 17 kilos of gold in Carrasco

-

A 66-year-old Uruguayan citizen residing in Argentina and his 45-year-old Argentine companion were arrested this Monday (13.01.2020/17/XNUMX) by officials of the National Customs Directorate (DNA) at the Carrasco Airport, when they presented themselves to declare XNUMX kilos of gold as part of their accompanied luggage.

The passengers were bound for Miami on an American Airlines flight, according to a statement from Uruguayan Customs. DNA officials demanded that passengers present the documentation required for this type of shipment, but found that it did not comply with the formalities required by the General Tax Directorate.

The Third Shift Attorney of Ciudad de la Costa, Patricia Rodríguez, was immediately notified and began the corresponding investigations and ordered the detention of the passengers and the seizure of the gold, cash (Argentine and Uruguayan pesos and 3 dollars) and the vehicle in which they had arrived from the Argentine Republic.

The value of the seized gold exceeds US$ 613.000 (US dollars).
