International tourism: Arrivals rose 3,5% and departures fell 2,6% in September

"Last September, 233,2 tourist arrivals were recorded in Argentina, with an interannual increase of 3,5% and a decrease of 3,2% compared to August," the institute said.  

"The number of tourists leaving the country in September totalled 319,8 thousand, which represented a decrease of 2,6% "The number of tourists arriving in the first nine months of the year was 8% lower than in the same month of the previous year and 2.264.500% lower than in August. In the first nine months of the year, tourist arrivals totalled 16,0, representing a year-on-year increase of 319.800%, while the number of residents leaving the country reached 2,6, representing a year-on-year decrease of XNUMX%," the report said. 

"Ezeiza and Aeroparque airports accounted for 88,4% of non-resident tourist arrivals, with a year-on-year increase of 14,5% and 81,6% of departures, with a decrease of 11,7 percent. At the rest of the airports, the influx of inbound tourism registered an increase of 12,8% compared to the same month of the previous year, coming mainly from Chile, Brazil and the group of countries in the 'Rest of America' group," the text added. 

The study stated: “Of the total number of arrivals, those from Brazil were 73,9 thousand, a figure that represented a year-on-year increase of 5,2% and 37,1 thousand from the 'Rest of America' followed, which increased by 1,8% year-on-year. Tourist arrivals came mainly from Brazil (32,7%), followed by Europe (15,9%), the 'Rest of America' group (15,2%) and 6,3% from the 'Rest of the world'.

“Residents in the country who traveled abroad for tourism in September chose Europe as their main destination, with 30,8% of the total, the United States and Canada (22,9%), Brazil (17,1%), 'Rest of America' (15,4%), 'Rest of the world' (5,2%), Chile (4,9%), Uruguay (1,4%), Paraguay (1,2%) and Bolivia (1%)”, concluded the Indec International Tourism Statistics research.
