Argentina: Transporters intending to import must be registered

The national government establishes that carriers who intend to carry out import transit destinations by land within the framework of the "Customs Transit Security Initiative (ISTA)" must be registered in the corresponding registry.

This is what l points outa General Resolution 4288/2018 published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette, which indicates that a non-intrusive control mechanism was implemented by this Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP), based on the technological platform for satellite tracking of transport units.

Registration and requirements for the carrier

In addition, the rule indicates that carriers must be Registered in the Single Registry of Transporters (PAUT). However, those carriers that are not registered in the aforementioned registry must prove a transport fleet of no less than three units, registered in the Single Registry of Transporters (RUTA), with a minimum insured value of US$ 300.000 its equivalent in national currency at the selling exchange rate on the date of submission of the application for membership, according to the vehicle valuation table for the tax on personal property corresponding to the fiscal period immediately prior to the date of submission of the application for membership or with the respective accreditation of the value - issued by the insurance companies of the vehicles -, which are not affected by a lien or any other limitation to the domain, or

They must also provide a guarantee of satisfaction of no less than US$300.000 or its equivalent in national currency "Specific Requirements".

The measure will come into effect as of this Wednesday, according to the regulation signed by Cuccioli.
