Brazil's trade surplus falls 15,9% in November

Brazil recorded a trade surplus of $3.428 billion last November, 15,9 percent less than the same month last year, the country's Ministry of Economy reported on Monday (02.12.2019).

According to the report, Brazilian exports totaled 17.596 billion dollars last month, while Imports amounted to 14.169 billion dollars.

In the In the first 11 months of the year, Brazil accumulated a trade surplus of 41.079 billion dollars, 20,4 percent less compared to the same period last year, when it was $51.605 billion.

This was the worst result for the period since 2015, when the surplus was $13.303 billion.

Both exports and imports fell by 16 percent in November this year, compared to the same month in 2018.

In the year-to-date period up to November, exports totaled 205.863 billion dollars, a daily average of 887 million dollars, that is, 7,2 percent less than the same period in 2018.

Imports totaled $164.783 billion, representing an average of $710 million per day, a 2,9 percent drop compared to the same period last year.

The financial market estimates a trade surplus of 43.500 billion dollars at the end of 2019 in Brazil, a result that, if confirmed, would be lower than the 58.300 billion dollars of positive balance in 2018.

The Central Bank (BC) expects the trade surplus to reach 43.000 billion dollars, while the Ministry of Economy puts it at 41.800 billion dollars at the end of the year.
