Senasa and Mercado Libre signed an agreement to control the illegal sale of veterinary and phytosanitary products

-

The National Service for Food Safety and Quality (Senasa) and Mercado Libre signed a collaboration agreement to join forces to control the illegal sale of veterinary and phytosanitary products under their jurisdiction.

Starting from this, Senasa has a control tool for detecting advertisements or advertising notices – made on the website – of articles that may be in violation of current regulations..

These irregular publications will now be removed, warning the user that their deletion corresponds to the fact that they were reported by Senasa for alleged infringement. to Law 27.233, which provides for fines of up to 10 million pesos and for non-compliance with Article 3 of Decree No. 583 of January 31, 1967 and the Senasa Resolution No. 609/2007

The Director of Veterinary Products of the Organization, Federico Luna, explained that “Many of the products regulated by Senasa have sales categories, such as veterinary or phytosanitary. The fact that these are sold on this type of platform does not allow compliance with the requirements for each category. For example, sales under prescription or professional advice".

"This new tool will allow the formalization of marketing channels, where the prescribing professional plays a fundamental role. The products regulated by Senasa have a direct impact on public health, and today we have one more tool for their control,” Luna indicated.

In this way, it will be possible to improve controls on the marketing of the aforementioned veterinary or phytosanitary products in channels not authorised for this purpose.
