Senasa reminds of the sanitary requirements for bringing pets into the country

People who wish to return to the country with their pet, dog and/or cat, must process a International Veterinary Certificate (CVI) for export from the veterinary authority of the country where they are residing, whose validity is 60 days, recalled this Thursday (14.05.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX) the National Service of Health and Agri-Food Quality (Senasa).

«The queries received from the travelers, most often from the United States, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and European countries, "They refer to the necessary documentation that must be presented on the day of shipment. Since in many cases this date is usually sudden, and may even be modified or cancelled, it is appropriate to clarify and remember that, once the CVI is obtained, its validity is extended for 60 days to enter Argentina," explained Laura Giménez, head of the Animal Foreign Trade Directorate of Senasa.

"If any entry of dogs and/or cats from repatriated individuals is not covered by the established requirements, given the contingency caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, interested parties can send their query to [email protected]. In this way, Senasa will promptly evaluate the case in order to facilitate entry," Senasa added.

The Resolution of the Mercosur Common Market Group No. 17/15, establishes that the CVI issued by the veterinary authority of the exporting country for the transfer of pet dogs and cats is valid for 60 (sixty) days from its date of issue, as long as the animal's rabies vaccination is current, the national body's statement expanded.

Users can also consult the health requirements and all the information necessary to return with their pets on the page website from Senasa.
