Passenger waiting time at Ezeiza Customs has been reduced by more than half

-

The General Directorate of Customs (DGA), part of AFIP, has reduced the waiting time for passengers entering the country through Ezeiza International Airport by half over the past year, from an average of 10 minutes to less than half.

In some cases, this procedure takes only about three minutes. This lOgre was the result of improvements carried out by Customs in relation to the reengineering of processes linked to control and managementThese advances will be furthered by the incorporation of new CT scanners, facial recognition cameras and databases for advance information.

The reduction was also achieved by updating the regulations regarding franchises., which increased to US$500 and, in addition, the possibility of bringing in a cell phone and a tablet or a laptop as part of personal luggage.

AFIP has developed new means to declare objects, which can be done through an application which is downloaded to a mobile device, or through totems installed in the conveyor belt sector, without having to resort to the traditional paper route.

Finally, work was carried out with Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 to design the new Customs offices that will be relocated following the changes made in Ezeiza.

It is worth noting that these modifications contributed to Ezeiza's Ministro Pistani International Airport being considered one of the best in the world, according to the ranking prepared by AirHelp.

Last month, 477.272 people entered the country through this airport.
