The Digital Media Monitoring and Inspection Program of the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (SENASA) detected 40.390 posts in violation and requested its removal from e-commerce for not complying with the health and quality standards established for products under its control.

This is the result of the inspection carried out in a coordinated manner with Mercado Libre (16.098), Facebook (23.419) and Instagram (873), and corresponds to the following categories: veterinary articles and/or products, animals whose commercialization is prohibited, organic, ecological and/or biological products without the proper certification, unregistered animal feed, unregistered agrochemicals and fertilizers, commercialization of plants categorized as priority species, among other issues under the jurisdiction of SENASA.

The Program, created on May 4, 2020 at the initiative of the state agency, is headed by Rosina Leicht and reports to the SENASA Presidential Unit. Its scope of action includes goods offered and marketed through electronic channels contemplated in Article 1 of Law No. 27.233.

"This Program extended SENASA's control orbit to the marketing on digital platforms of products, by-products and/or derivatives of animal and plant origin under its jurisdiction, ensuring their quality and health," said the President of the state health agency, Agricultural Engineer Carlos Paz.

Furthermore, in this first year of work, The Program intervened and processed 49 complaints or citizen presentations that users formalized through the channel that the Organization has on its official website. Based on this, it provided concrete responses to real problems.

The initiative has the cooperation of ANMAT, AFIP, NIC Argentina, Mercado Libre, Facebook and InstagramThis allows the Program to access the world of e-commerce and transforms it into a digital support tool to organize the registration of products offered through different electronic channels and avoid misinformation, which often leads to the irregular sale of products, affecting the health of those who consume them.

In line with this coordinated work, during the first quarter of this year New actions were initiated together with the Customs and Official Mail to update standards and lists of products categorized as prohibited from entering the country under the mail or door-to-door modality. And so on mitigate the risks that may compromise the health status of animal and plant production of Argentina against other countries.

The new SENASA tool came into effect on March 4, 2021.
