Argentina, in its role as President of the highest pro tempore political and legal representation of the Southern Common Market, began its work schedule for the first half of 2021, which will include the Commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the creation of MERCOSUR.
According to the statement, at a Meeting of National Coordinators of Mercosur, under the Pro Tempore Presidency (PPT) of our country, and with the participation of Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, it was They have planned commemorative activities alluding to this celebration, among which a Presidential Meeting is planned for March 26.
In addition, a meeting of Foreign Ministers, a MERCOSUR Business Forum, a Social Development Forum, an Academic Meeting and other complementary activities of different technical forums of the Institutional Structure of MERCOSUR and others that are planned to be held abroad, in coordination with the Diplomatic Representations of the four Member States, have been announced.
Argentina stressed that MERCOSUR has a “clear symbolic and political value by demonstrating a vocation for regional integration, and turning the bloc into a common platform for the competitive international projection of our countries, highlighting our common capabilities to connect with the various regions and markets in a post-pandemic global scenario.”
To this end, at the meeting chaired by the Undersecretary of MERCOSUR and International Economic Negotiations, Ambassador Rossana Surballe, topics were addressed, focused on consolidating and deepening the integration process of the regional bloc, such as the Common External Tariff, the Regime of Origin, Electronic Commerce and Services, among others.
