What are “Free Trade Zones”?
"Free Trade Zones" are areas in which merchandise is not subject to the usual control of the customs service and both its "introduction" (import) and its "extraction" (export) are not subject to taxes -except for the remuneration rates that may be established- nor are they subject to economic prohibitions. (Art. 590. Law 22.415 - Customs Code)
The objective of these Zones is to promote trade and industrial export activity by reducing costs and simplifying administrative procedures, while also offering incentives.
What is a “Primary Zone”?
A “Primary Zone” is one authorized for the execution of customs operations or affected by the control of the same, in which special rules apply for the circulation of people and the movement and disposal of merchandise. Such as: Premises, facilities, warehouses where customs operations are carried out, ports, docks, airports and border crossings. (Art. 5° Law No. 22.415 – Customs Code)
