Paraguay ratified on Monday (20.5.2019) the return of the property it occupies in the port of Rosario and, consequently, the province of Santa Fe will recover a space in the Rosario maritime terminal.

The decision of the Paraguayan authorities was announced at a meeting of the Joint Commission of the Agreement on the Free Trade Zone of Paraguay (Port of Rosario), which took place at the headquarters of the Argentine Foreign Ministry in Buenos Aires.

«Paraguay ratified the return of the current property occupied by the Free Trade Zone in Rosario, in compliance with the commitments reached by the Argentine Foreign Minister, Jorge Faurie, with his Paraguayan counterpart."the Argentine Foreign Ministry informed Télam.

The Rosario Port Administration Entity (Enapro) "will take possession of the property, thus recovering for the province an essential space for the operation of the modern port terminal«says the statement.

It is a six-hectare plot of land that extends approximately along the strip between the Rosario Nautical Club and La Siberia, of the National University of Rosario (UNR).

«Likewise, work continued on the relocation of the Paraguayan Free Trade Zone to a new space that meets the modern needs of river transport and that allows the use of the facilities provided by our country for operations in its ports."the official report states.

In this way «The volume of cargo transported by Paraguay through the Paraguay-Paraná Waterway system will be increased"He adds.

In addition, Paraguay "He expressed his interest in making public-private investments for the relocation of the Free Trade Zone, within the framework of the agreements reached through a port development plan«.
