Learn about Senasa's requirements for the export of queen bees

-

The export of queen bees is an alternative business for Argentine producers and a complement to the rest of the beekeeping activities, especially because there is a demand in the northern hemisphere.

Any producer dedicated to the multiplication of bees can export, as long as they comply with the requirements requested by the destination country. The requirements to be met for the export of queen bees are mainly related to the national regulations established by the National Service for Food Health and Quality (Senasa).

Requirements

OriginnThis regulation is related, on the one hand, to maintaining the record of the establishments of origin: Special Registry of Breeding Apiaries, in accordance with the procedures for Traceability of animals.

CertificateThe sanitary requirements for export are established by the purchasing or destination country and must be met in the country of origin. Senasa is responsible for inspecting them and issuing the zoosanitary certificate that accompanies each shipment.

Health aspectsThe main health aspects to take care of are that the apiary does not have clinical signs of American foulbrood (AF), European foulbrood (EF) or varroosis mites; and that it remains free of the small hive beetle (Aethina tumida).

Register. In addition, beekeepers must be registered in the National Registry of Beekeepers (RENAPA), whose registry is kept by the Ministry of Agroindustry of the Nation. Through this registry, the Agency identifies the location of the apiaries and carries out sanitary monitoring on an ongoing basis.
