The Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) recognized the efforts of the National Service for Food Safety and Quality (Senasa) to streamline and make transparent the inspections of warehouses and bulk tanks in Argentine ports, eliminating by 90% the unjustified delays that increased the operating costs of ships that export this product.
The MACN thanked the efforts made “to combat corruption in the process of clearing ships for loading grain in Argentina,” in a note sent to Senasa authorities.
Senasa launched a Pilot Plan for warehouse/tank inspections with the digitalization of the inspection system, the introduction of cross-checks, the possibility of filing anonymous complaints and the work of a new professional supervision team within Senasa coordinated by the current regional director of the Center, Cristian Cunha.
"This change in processes, systems and standards contributes to progress in clear and transparent actions in the inspection of warehouses and tanks of ships and barges" and indicated that "we want and will continue working with the sector to continue improving the system and transparency," said the president of Senasa, Ricardo Negri.
The MACN added that “the entire global and local maritime industry” shares that “Corruption has decreased considerably in warehouse inspections in Argentina", according to the text.
