The Ministry of Transport of the Nation, through the General Administration of Ports together with the Argentine Customs, continues to expand the intermodal function of the Port of Buenos Aires for the benefit of the logistics systems of the industries that operate there.

On January 16, 2018, the first inspection was carried out at the federal port. Pilot test for container transport by trains with automotive cargo from the Toyota company, from terminal 4 of the port to the Domestic Customs Office that operates in the industrial plant of Zárate. In total, 28 containers with parts and spare parts from Asia for the national production of cars were transported from the port to Zárate. In the opposite direction, from Zárate to the port, cars were transported for export. This test seeks to verify the technical, operational and regulatory feasibility of the railway exit, being a precedent for future operations of the same characteristics for other industries in the country.

This intermodal logistics advance This is taking place within the framework of President Macri's recent announcement to launch the 1 Million Cars Plan, which aims to manufacture that number of vehicles in our country. This milestone in the port of all Argentines will allow for lowering costs and transporting cargo by rail in a sustainable manner and directly to national production plants.

"We are working with Argentine Customs and all agencies to facilitate sustainable logistics practices that benefit the national industry and regional economies. For us, it is of utmost importance to connect the entire country through the port, not only with the world, but also internally, so that the Federal Port continues to belong to all Argentines.declared Gonzalo Mórtola, Comptroller of the Port of Buenos Aires.

Looking to the future, tests will continue to be carried out for the transport of automotive material from other companies and other sectors in order to promote and facilitate comprehensive logistics from the port to all of Argentina's provinces.
