President Jair Bolsonaro opened the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, with a speech lasting less than ten minutes on Tuesday (22.1.2019).
The Brazilian president spoke about the economy, the environment and economic reforms.
These are the main points of the message:
- New Brazil. “This trip is also a great opportunity for me to show the world the unique moment we are living in my country and to present to everyone the new Brazil we are building.”
- Credibility.“We have the credibility to make the reforms we need and that the world expects from us. Here among us is my Minister of Justice and Public Security, Sergio Moro, the right man to fight corruption and money laundering.”
- Compatibility between environment and development."Our mission now is to make progress in making the preservation of the environment and biodiversity compatible with the necessary economic development, remembering that they are interdependent and inseparable."

- Opening of the economy."Brazil remains a relatively closed economy to international trade, and changing that condition is one of the greatest commitments of this Government.”
- Integration into the world."We will seek to integrate Brazil into the world, through the incorporation of the best international practices., such as those adopted and promoted by the OECD. We will seek to integrate Brazil into the world also through an active defense of WTO reform.”
- Technology."We want partners with technology so that this marriage may translate into progress and development for all.”
- Democracy."I want more than a great Brazil, I want a world of peace, freedom and democracy".
