Within the framework of the Pacific Alliance Agreement, Peru issued for the first time the digital certificate of origin for a shipment destined for Mexico, reported the Andina Agency.
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), administrator of the Foreign Trade Single Window (VUCE) platform, was in charge of the implementation and coordination with its Mexican counterpart. To do so, it had the support of the Lima Chamber of Commerce, the main issuer of Certificates of Origin at the national level.
On behalf of the private sector and in support of the public sector, the CCL participated during the implementation process of the advances made by Mincetur, to validate the necessary technical adjustments. In addition, it jointly held talks and workshops to raise awareness and provide information to exporters.
The advantages of the digital certificate of origin lie in the savings in costs and time..
Mincetur has also authorized digital certification for exports to Colombia and is expected to be implemented in Chile soon.
It is worth highlighting that this type of issuance generates a series of benefits, in addition to saving time and costs, it is more secure thanks to the use of digital signatures and also speeds up export and import procedures.
