The National Director of Customs of Paraguay, Julio Fernández, and the Deputy Director of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation, Vladimr V Ivin, signed this Tuesday (10.12.2019) an economic-commercial agreement to provide legal security to the authorized economic operators of both countries.
So too, The agreement aims to prevent illegal acts and promote a fluid exchange of information and mutual cooperation in customs matters, as well as the promotion of measures that contribute to the facilitation and deepening of bilateral trade..
The event took place today at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay.
"ItThe agreement is of great importance considering that Paraguayan exports in 2018 amounted to 500 million dollars and also because we have a lot to learn from a modern customs system like Russia's. In addition, thanks to the agreement, an exchange of information will be carried out that will allow advance access to what type of merchandise is coming to Paraguay, the value, the quantity, the exporting company, etc., which will facilitate customs controls and ensure the collection of taxes.“, Fernandez said.
For his part, Ivin said: “EThe agreement covers all areas related to the movement of goods between states, and some of its pillars are cooperation in the field of law enforcement, the exchange of information and statistical data. The signing of the document will mean that Paraguay's exports will be considered by the Russian Federation as lower risk, so the procedures will be faster and less costly."
The agreement establishes, among other things, that the parties undertake to take measures to facilitate and expedite the movement of goods or merchandise, provide mutual assistance in the prevention, investigation and repression of customs offences, exchange information, interact in the research, development and testing of new means and technology with the aim of preventing, investigating and repressing customs offences and work to improve customs technologies and resolve problems in the application and compliance with the customs legislation of the signatory countries.
