The Technical Groups of the Customs of Panama and Costa Rica held a workshop on April 27 and 28 past with a view to establishing and coordinating actions for the temporary operation of the Binational Integrated Control Systems at the border posts between both countries.
According to the Panamanian Customs reported this Tuesday (02.05.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX), the technicians focused on the processes and logistics of pedestrian passengers, taking into account that Costa Rica plans to begin operations at one of its border posts in August.
He also indicated that The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Panama City., where the technical team of the National Customs Administration was led by the Deputy Director of Logistics, Juan Pablo García.
The activities are part of the implementation of the “Framework Agreement for the implementation of binational integrated control systems at border posts between Costa Rica and Panama”, ratified by both countries in 2019.
This instrument establishes a single stop and juxtaposed controls in Paso Canoes under a double header model; and Sabalito-Sereno River y Sixaola -Guabito, under a single header scheme.
The authorities are therefore directing their regional efforts towards establishing the integrated control centre model for coordinated border management and improving competitiveness.
