Between December 4 and 15, the so-called Operation Stop III, coordinated between the National Customs Service of Chile and the World Customs Organization (WCO), to combat the illicit trade of medicines, vaccines and medical devices related to COVID-19.
Chilean Customs reported this Saturday (13.01.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX) that the initiative concluded with the confiscation of 21.476 products that attempted to be brought into the country illegally. There were a total of thirteen procedures, among which were seized Cosmetics (12.146) foods (7.572) medicines (1.615), medical devicess (143) and vehicle spare parts (180).

The operations took place in the cities of Arica, Iquique, San Antonio, Punta Arenas and the Metropolitan Region.
For Deputy Director of Customs Enforcement, José Luis Castro, the successful outcome of Operation Stop III was due to the “intense work of Customs officials and the rest of the countries that are part of the WCO. This is another example of the commitment we have as Customs to combat organized crime that is being perpetrated in the country.”

Operation Stop is a coordination led by the WCO and seeks to combat the entry of illicit products into countries by promoting coordination and communication between the different associated Customs Offices.
