The World Trade Organization (WTO) reported on Thursday (13.03.2020) the decision of the government of Kazakhstan to cancel the 12th Ministerial Conference scheduled for June, after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic.
«Together with the President of the General Council, Ambassador David Walker, and in consultation with the delegation of Kazakhstan, DG Azevêdo circulated a note to members saying that “we consider that Holding MC12 as previously agreed from June 8 to 11 will not be feasible"the WTO statement said.
The director general of the organization, Roberto Azevêdo, will meet with the WHO General Council "as soon as conditions allow" to decide "how to proceed with the revised provisions for MC12," the official text concludes.
