Every April 26, Intellectual Property Day is celebrated to learn about intellectual property rights (such as patents, trademarks, industrial designs, car rights) in promoting creativity and innovation.

In this regard, the World Customs Organization (WCO) joins the international community to celebrate the day whose campaign revolves around motto "Driving change: women in innovation and creativity", celebrating the ingenuity, creativity and courage of women around the world with the support of an appropriate intellectual property system, can make their ideas a reality and contribute to greater economic growth and cultural wealth.

"Given the importance of encourage and assist women to transform their aspirations and creative ideas into life-changing inventions, World Intellectual Property Day is a reminder to all of us of the importance of having national Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) systems in place. better protect citizens from the dangers of counterfeit products, but also to safeguard innovation as a whole. On this special day, I would like to reaffirm WCO's dedication to the global fight against counterfeiting and piracy"said the Secretary General of the WCO, Kunio Mikuriya.

Thanks to Health and Safety Program, which revolves around raising awareness and providing capacity-building activities, the WCO dedicates significant resources to ensuring that its members are adequately equipped, both politically and operationally, to combat counterfeiting and piracy.

In addition to its support, the WCO is partnering with the “Women in Trade Network” to broaden discussions on the role of Customs in protecting national borders from illicit flows of counterfeit and pirated goods, and ultimately creating the right environment for women to bring ideas to the market.
