Argentina has enacted several laws related to international treaties, published today (21.10.2024) in the Official Gazette. These regulations cover the common instrument on rules and principles for trade facilitation in MERCOSUR, the regulatory framework for electronic commerce in the region, and the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies. In addition, the Agreement between Argentina and China on cooperation for the prevention and fight against illicit trafficking and the restitution of cultural property is included. All these instruments were previously approved by the National Congress.
The published standards are as follows:
- Law 27766: Approves the Agreement on Mercosur Trade Facilitation, signed in the city of Bento Gonçalves, Brazil, on December 5, 2019, consisting of twenty-one (21) articles, with an annex in Spanish that is part of this law. (Text)
- Law 27768: Approves the Agreement on Mercosur Electronic Commerce, held in Montevideo, Uruguay, on April 29, 2021, which consists of seventeen (17) articles and an annex that is part of this law.(Text)
- Law 27761: Approves the Protocol of Amendment to the Marrakech Agreement establishing the World Trade Organization (WTO)- Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies, adopted in Geneva, Switzerland, on June 17, 2022, consisting of six (6) paragraphs and one (1) annex, available in Spanish, English and French.(Text)
- Law 27764: Approve the Agreement between the Argentine Republic and the People's Republic of China on cooperation for the prevention and fight against illicit trafficking and the restitution of cultural property, signed in Buenos Aires on November 28, 2018, which consists of seven (7) articles and two (2) annexes, which are available in Spanish and English. These laws constitute a positive step by the Argentine Republic towards faithful compliance with the provisions of international treaties assumed, by incorporating such commitments into domestic law. This coordination is intended to facilitate intra-MERCOSUR trade, promote sustainable economic development and preserve cultural treasures, within the framework of bilateral cooperation with China.
