Since Monday (16.09.2019), Ezeiza International Airport has a new Cargo Terminal and Cold Storage, which will speed up the import process and improve the export conditions of fresh products that require low temperatures for their export abroad.
The works were inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture of the Nation, Luis Miguel Etchevehere, and the Minister of Transportation, Guillermo Dietrich, in a ceremony which was also attended by the head of the Regulatory Body of the National Airport System (SNA), Patricio Di Stéfano, the general manager of Ezeiza of Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, Daniel Katchivachian, and the general manager of the Airport Cargo Terminal (TCA), Alexander Boot, among other authorities.
"ANDThis is a trademark of Mauricio Macri's government, to do the logistics, the infrastructure, everything necessary to define investments. Thanks to works like this, investments are currently being defined in Argentina."Etchevehere said about the works.
Dietrich also stressed that the terminal was the result of joint work. «with production companies, airlines, cargo transport companies, with Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 and with different provinces» and pointed out that with this work Argentine fresh products will be able to ""to arrive faster, taking care of quality and with less costs to different destinations."
He added that the ""A new fast-track merchandise terminal was an old demand of the sector" and "now we not only have a better warehouse, but we have been working with all the organizations, so that the quantity of merchandise that enters and leaves is much greater. This allows us to enhance other business opportunities."", the minister stressed.
The construction of the new DAP (Direct to Plaza) warehouse has made it possible to expand the storage capacity of the cargo terminal thanks to the 1.460 m2 semi-covered and 2.870 m2 covered surface area divided into three sectors, with a total capacity of 837 cargo compartment positions (pallets).
This allows for new offices for Customs and TCA, changing rooms and a training room with capacity for 50 people.
The operation of the export perishable goods warehouse was also expanded thanks to a reconfiguration of the refrigeration capacity, meeting the requirement of temperatures of 0° to 4°C. Separate areas for reception, scanning and weighing were implemented, in addition to the optimization of the dynamic/static storage capacity.
This warehouse has a new space for the circulation of electrical equipment for the movement of loads and two completely new loading docks. In addition, two state-of-the-art scanners with dual-view technology were incorporated that allow the scanning of complete pallets measuring 2,00 x 1,80 meters, and mechanized rollers.
