Boluda Lines, part of the Boluda Corporación Marítima shipping company, has added a new container ship to the South American line of the Paraná-Paraguay waterway managed by its subsidiary in South America, Naviera del Mercosur.
With this vessel, called "Vicky B", the river transport service of bulk, dry, liquid, refrigerated and project goods will be strengthened, on a fundamental river route for the traffic of products from the southern cone of America, according to the Shipping company statement.
The entry into service of the new ship, which coincides with the tenth anniversary of the acquisition of the South American company in 2008, replaces the "Lago Ypoa" and has converted it into a Twin container ship to the "Asuncion B" and is operating at full capacity on the waterway.
Their special characteristics of draft, dimensions and maneuverability make them the safest and most versatile vessels of all those that navigate the waterway, according to sources.
The waterway has a total length of 3.442 kilometers, and begins its journey from the Río de la Plata, between Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Montevideo and Puerto Palmira (Uruguay), from the Paraná River (in Argentina), and ends in the Brazilian town of Puerto Cáceres.
On this route, Naviera del Mercosur transports goods in its central and southern sections, from the capital of Paraguay, Asunción, through Argentine territory via Corrientes, Santa Fe and Rosario until reaching Zárate and Buenos Aires, and ending in Nueva Palmira and Montevideo, in Uruguay, from where the return journey is made.
Boluda Corporación Marítima acquired Naviera del Mercosur in 2008, as part of its policy of expansion and diversification of services. This South American company was created in 1994 to respond to the significant increase in cargo from the Atlantic Ocean, originating in or destined for Paraguay, following the river route of the Paraná and Uruguay rivers.
Boluda Lines has carried out the conversion of the "Vicky B" with the aim of offering a better service of this already consolidated transport, and in order to meet the increase in demand.
With these two ships, the shipping company will offer a weekly service between the ports of Asunción-Montevideo-Buenos Aires and will also be able to do so, on demand, in all the ports of the waterway..
Boluda Corporación Marítima, founded in Valencia in 1820, is one of the leading companies in global maritime services in Latin America, with commercial activity also in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, West Africa, Cape Verde and the Indian Ocean, with offices on five continents.
