The Argentine Foreign Ministry announced this. The seventh round of negotiations between Mercosur and Canada concluded this Friday (02.08.2019) in the city of Ottawa, Canada, within the framework of a "broad and complex negotiation that seeks to reach a state-of-the-art trade agreement," and which yielded "considerable progress" in various chapters, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship.
The talks "produced considerable progress on the parameters for the exchange of revised offers of goods and presented the list of geographical indications that Mercosur seeks to protect in the Canadian market," the report said.
The technical teams made progress on the texts on sanitary and phytosanitary measures and intellectual property, while in the chapters on the environment, public procurement and rules of origin numerous articles were agreed upon, and the issue of dispute settlement was "practically concluded."
In a statement, it was noted that it was initially agreed that the next round of negotiations would take place in Brasilia, during the week of November 18.
Canada represents a market of 36 million high-income consumers, with a GDP per capita of $45.000.
