Mercosur and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) will hold intense negotiations in Buenos Aires to advance the free trade agreement (FTA).

This is the fifth meeting since the official launch of negotiations to achieve a comprehensive FTA in March 2016, says the statement from the Argentine Foreign Ministry. In the last round, the parties already exchanged offers on goods, services and investments.

In this new round the parties will focus on agreeing on the so-called "modalities" for the exchange of improved offers in December 2018.Both Mercosur and EFTA aim to conclude negotiations in 2019.

This negotiation with Mercosur is part of the negotiations with the European Union, Canada, Korea and Singapore, which are particularly attractive for the export offer of the bloc and are among the main issuers of foreign direct investment.
