Argentine President Mauricio Macri has reestablished two free trade zones in the northern province of Jujuy to boost investment and trade in the region.
The goal is to turn the northern region "into a great market with opportunities for work and progress," Macri said during an event.
The free zones were established in the towns of Perico and La Quiaca, through the signing of an agreement signed this Friday (2.2.2018).
La The free zone in Perico includes an industrial park of more than 20 hectares, where a lithium battery factory will be installed.
"This is only the beginning of a wonderful journey that will allow us, year after year, month after month and day after day, to generate opportunities that reduce poverty throughout Argentina," said Macri, accompanied by the governor of Jujuy, Gerardo Morales.
The president assured that the jurisdiction will be transformed into a "world solar energy power" with the construction of the largest solar panel plant of its kind in Latin America, which will be located in the Puna region.
