The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation reported this Wednesday (25.09.2019) that the first container of lemons arrived in Mumbai, India, a market that had been opened during the visit of President Mauricio Macri to that country, in February of this year, and that became operational in the last official mission of the head of the agricultural portfolio, Luis Miguel Etchevehere, last July with the agreement of the sanitary protocols.

«Great news for our regional economies, high quality lemons reaching the demanding Indian market. This is the way to generate more work in the field, in packaging, in ports, in transportation and in the entire chain."Etchevehere said.

La first load, of 24.000 kg, She was received by the Argentine consul in India, Guillermo Devoto, and the Agricultural Attaché in this destination, Mariano Beheran.

The shipment is from the Argentine multinational San Miguel, which has a significant international supply of citrus fruits, and which has closed an agreement for the sale of lemons with the company IG Internacional, one of the largest importers of fruit from India. San Miguel is the first Argentine company to land lemons in India.

With the arrival of the first lemons in Mumbai, a series of shipments has begun that will soon enter the demanding Indian market.

It should be noted that in addition to the lemon market, the protocol for Argentine chia to enter the Indian market is also in place, which was made operational together with the lemon market.
