Food and beverage exports increased by 10,4% in August in quantity and 1,6% in value compared to the same month in 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation reported on Wednesday (09.10.2019).
During the eighth month of the year, four million tons of food and beverages were sold for a value of US$ 2.385 million.
Based on these figures, in the cumulative period between January and August 2019 there was an increase of 16,7% in quantities and 0,4% in value compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 31,2 million tons and US$ 17.100 billion exported, respectively.
The Minister of Agriculture, Luis Miguel Etchevehere, indicated that "Working with an eye on the markets so that Argentine production consolidates its expansion in the international market implies joining forces between the public and private sectors, and long series of exchanges between technical teams to comply with the requirements and health certificates with each country."

The main items The products that drove the growth measured in quantity were beef (46,6%); soybean oil (36,2%); sunflower oil (36,8%); cereal bran and residues (36,9%); poultry meat (32,4%) and wines (20,6%).
In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture highlighted that other products that had significant increases in export quantities were: malt (45,4%); other raw peanuts (64,3%); potato preparations (32,6%); cane sugar (156,1%); butter (67,5%); other dairy products (157,9%); orange juice (285,2%); potato (65%); cherry (77,8%); strawberry (229,3%) and kiwi (140,6%).
The main destinations of these products were China, India, Brazil, Spain, Vietnam, United States, Chile, Algeria, Italy.
Regarding regional foods, they represented exports of US$ 4.079 million in the period January-August 2019, nearly 24% of the total food and beverages for a value of US$ 1.363 per ton exported.
