Food exports in July grew by 7,1% in value and 32% in volume compared to July 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries reported.
The exported volume amounted to 4,5 million tons for a total amount of US$ 2.400 billion, while the cumulative volume from January to July showed a growth in volume of 17% compared to the same period in 2018, reaching 27 million tons, for an amount of US$ 14.680 billion.
«The national government and the private sector are moving towards the same objective: to produce and sell more, achieve the incorporation of new international markets, and grow in the domestic market. Argentina is a sustainable producer and reliable supplier of food"said the head of the national agricultural portfolio, Luis Miguel Etchevehere, highlighting that in terms of FOB value, the month of July represents the highest amount recorded in the last two years, reaching 2.400 billion dollars.
This growth was driven by the exports of soybean oil, beef, sunflower oil, poultry meat, beans and wine. These products accounted for 17% of total food exports during the month of July.
If we analyze the period January-July, Exports grew in volume by 17,6% and maintained the same value as in the same period of 2018: 27 million tons and an amount of 14.680 billion dollars.
The products that showed the greatest growth in volume, Among the first 10 exported products were: sunflower oil (45,5%), beef (44,2%), soybean oil (42,1%) and poultry meat (31,2%).
On the other hand, significant increases in volume and value were observed respectively in different foods, such as: orange juice (348,6% and 326,2%), other dairy products (202,9% and 271,8%), strawberry (157% and 117,7%), cane sugar (138,5% and 75,4%), kiwi (127,7% and 73,6%), walnut (108,8% and 44,9%), orange (103,6% and 31,3%), butter (93,3% and 74,9%) and onion (91,7% and 50,4%).
Also noteworthy are Goat meat and citronella essential oil as new products exported in 2019, in addition to the peppers and almonds recorded in the month of June.
The main sales destinations were China, India, Brazil, Vietnam, the United States, Spain, Indonesia, Chile and Italy.
