The Secretary General of the World Customs Organization explained the role of Customs at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
At the invitation of the World Economic Forum, WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya participated in the 48th Annual Meeting held in Davos from 23 to 26 January 2018 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, where he met with world leaders, explained the role of customs and contributed to several sessions.
The Secretary-General discussed with trade ministers and business leaders the WCO initiative on the cross-border movement of goods associated with the electronic commerce
Mikuriya emphasized the Income and security issues as well as the desire of the customs community to facilitate the legitimate trade, focusing on the benefit of the micro, small and medium enterprises, and the consumers.
In addition, the official participated in numerous sessions and bilateral meetings with ministers, heads of government and international organizations in order to explain the profile of Customs to world leaders.
High-level participants appreciated the WCO's contribution to the sessions and its collaboration across initiatives.
