La Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP) decided to suspend the calculation of deadlines in customs matters for various foreign trade operations, in order to facilitate the procedures related to imports and exports within the framework of the health emergency.
La General Directorate of Customs (DGA), through General Resolution No. 4726/2020 which will be published in the Official Gazette, seeks to provide a greater margin of time for During the period of mandatory preventive social isolation, foreign trade operators must comply with the various customs procedures.
AFIP sources stated that the suspension of deadlines will not be widespread because it will not cover those procedures that were not affected by the isolation measures, such as those related to "the arrival of the merchandise, the validity of the export application, the registration of the post-shipment declaration, the waiting period for the payment of export duties and the period that couriers have to inform Customs that they have delivered merchandise."
In addition, the regulations delegate to the DGA - headed by Silvia Traverso - the possibility of modifying the exceptions to the suspension of deadlines, in order to grant greater speed to international trade operations.
