Cippec researchers propose the export model to grow

-

In a detailed document with conceptual and practical clarity, CIPPEC analyzes the course of the economic contraction over the last 25 years and presents concrete proposals to be implemented starting with the next presidential term, as essential public policies to defeat the constant national economic crisis.

The work of Martín Rapetti, Pablo Carreras Mayer, Caterina Brest López and Alejo Sorrentino, framed within the initiative Strategic Goals to Transform Argentina (#META), refers to an almost chronic problem regarding the balance of payments and the imbalance between social demand and the productive capacity to satisfy it, which in turn leads to an insufficient flow of foreign currency as a consequence of an inferior relationship between exports and imports, as clearly explained and detailed by the authors.

As a result of this and in accordance with the analysis carried out, the authors have reached the conclusion that in order to achieve sustained economic growth, an increase in exports will be needed to balance the unfavorable balance. Obviously, and in agreement with what has been stated there, public policies developed in an integral manner will be needed, because simply imposing some restrictions or increasing exports of primary products will not obtain favorable results. In this case, the authors say that it will be necessary to strategically diversify the commercialization of our products and services abroad. That is, a medium and long-term export strategy, which will require the conviction that it is a public policy that transcends the next presidential period, becoming a State policy, as highlighted.

The note proposes the creation of a National Development Agency, which could be debatable from the point of view of the increase in bureaucratic structures, since the objectives set for such a structure could easily be developed with an appropriate design of already existing dependencies. However, the idea of promoting and organizing national development in a strategic manner is undoubtedly to be welcomed. Furthermore, it shows that the work carried out by CIPPEC has been professional and has solid foundations.

The analysis affirms the proposal for a growth strategy that avoids the cyclical interruptions that have caused so much damage in order to be able to follow a path of economic growth. In this sense, it highlights the need to reach a goal of 25 billion dollars in additional exports to achieve, in the next presidential term, a growth of 3% and without a shortage of dollars. Faced with the constant question of how to achieve this, the work presents as a proposal to gain market share beyond those already existing and in the form of diversified products and services.

The authors also highlight the work carried out by “Argentina exports” and propose that this same public policy goes beyond stimulating sectors and facilitating trade, coordinating public policies with an integral sense together with macroeconomic policy for a favorable environment for production and diversification of the exportable supply.

The interesting thing about CIPPEC's work is that they explain the reasons with foundation about why what they say is necessary and, in addition, The authors outline the roadmap for how to achieve this; something unusual in this type of public affairs and therefore it should be highlighted.

This is a proposal recommended to political parties, public bodies, non-governmental institutions and people interested in knowing how to export in order to grow.
