Zoosanitary requirements are incorporated for the importation of breeding animals

The Government has incorporated into the national legal system two resolutions of the Common Market Group on animal health requirements of the member states for the importation of cattle, buffalo, poultry, pigs and horses.

The resolutions 36 y 39/2019 of the Ministry of Agriculture, published this Monday (16.09.2019/XNUMX/XNUMX) in the Official Gazette, established the requirements for the Importation of cattle and buffalo for fattening and immediate slaughter; and frozen semen of both species.

Also for him Entry of equines for immediate slaughter, equine embryos and frozen semen; hatching eggs for poultry and day-old poultry; and domestic pigs for breeding.

Following this decision, all imports of these species must be accompanied by an International Veterinary Certificate (CVI), issued by the Veterinary Authority of the exporting country, certifying compliance with the zoosanitary requirements.

The CVI must be previously agreed between the exporting country and the importing state party, and will be valid for up to 10 days from the date of its issue for entry.

Diagnostic tests and vaccinations must be carried out in accordance with the Manual of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Terrestrial Animals of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), and in the first case, in official laboratories, accredited or recognised by the Veterinary Authority of the exporting country.

The importing State Party that complies with the OIE Terrestrial Code to be considered free, or that has an official prevention, control or eradication program for any disease affecting the species, reserves the right to request mitigation measures.
