The two nations will begin Community free mobility operations from three priority Peripheral Customs Offices starting Thursday, October 1, according to Honduran Customs.

The measure represents a huge step forward in the deep integration process. Basically, it will allow for the implementation of two customs operations, such as definitive imports for the two States Parties (free community mobility) and the transit operations (international and community).

Within the framework of deep integration between Guatemala and Honduras, priority was given three peripheral customs of the Union:

A) Guatemala: Tecun Uman

B) Honduras: Puerto Cortes y Guasaule.

From October 1st, in the three peripheral customs offices will be the customs services of both countries in one placeThis implementation will facilitate procedures and reduce border crossing times.

It is important to highlight that the Customs Union process is based on the Central American Economic Integration model; with schemes to facilitate the free movement of goods and people, it seeks to liberalize 75% of trade between both countries to make them more competitive and productive. The customs union between Guatemala and Honduras, which came into effect in June 2017, was created on the basis of the legal foundation of the legal instruments of Central American economic integration, according to the information.
