The national government enacted Law 08.06.2020 on Monday (27.547/XNUMX/XNUMX), which regulates the legal link between the Argentine State and the Red Cross, one of the main humanitarian organizations worldwide.
La new norm, published in the Official Gazette, grants the Red Cross tax exemptions for the development of its activity. Specifically, its Article 17 states the following: «Argentine Red Cross is exempt from paying theImport duty and statistical fees, for port services and verification of destination that tax the importation for consumption of inputs, assistance materials, relief equipment, medicines, vehicles and other means of transport, food, essential goods or others that are required to develop the activities.
It is also exempt from the “tax on credits and debits” in bank accounts and other transactions corresponding to movements made in accounts that are used exclusively for humanitarian tasks”.
The Argentine Red Cross is a voluntary aid society, auxiliary to public authorities in the humanitarian field, with the character of a civil association for the common good and non-profit, with a unique legal personality and private law.
It acts, in all circumstances, in accordance with its statutes and regulations as approved by the competent authorities, the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols, the statute and regulations of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and the resolutions adopted by the International Conference and the Council of Delegates of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
