Government lowers export duties on products from regional economies

-

The Government established a new tax scheme for definitive exports in 207 tariff items of regional economies, through the decree 464 / 2019, published in the Official Gazette this Wednesday (10.07.2019).

Reduction of Export Duty

The norm establishes a reduction from $4 to $3 per dollar exported in favor of vegetables and fruits. The benefit is added to the increase in the period for payment of export duties. Let us remember that article 2 of Decree 865/2018 established a waiting period of 60 calendar days, without interest counted from the day after the issue. This deadline will be reduced from 60 to 90 days.

The tax and deadline advantage applies to rice, cherries, grapes, dried plums, garlic, onions, pumpkin, peanuts, blueberries, walnuts, legumes, pistachios, honey, currants and strawberries.

The measure has been technically considered for Argentine blanched peanuts. However, the general economic situation of the vegetable and fruit producing sectors, as well as the climatic and sanitary aspects that affect them, have led to the inclusion of more merchandise in Annex I of Decree 793/18 and its amendment, generating the reduction of the tax known as export withholding.

Increase in Exportation Rights

The Soy products rise from $3 to $4 per dollar. Considering the composition and diversity of products that make up Chapters 15 and 23 of the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM), it has been decided to readjust the limit of the export duty of tariff items that include products or by-products with a soybean component.

The measure, signed by President Mauricio Macri, the Chief of Cabinet of Ministers, Marco Peña and the Ministers of Production and Labor, Dante Sica, and of Finance, Nicolas Dujovne, will come into force on Thursday, July 11, 2019.
