The Government put into effect a new protocol of action to take extreme care measures in the Ships arriving at the port of Buenos Aires from abroad, with the aim of preventing the coronavirus from spreading further in the country.

This is established by the Provision 36/2020, published this Friday (03.04.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX) in the Official Gazette, which must be complied with "without prejudice to the application of measures establishing different temporary restrictions or obligations, approved by the Health Authority."

In addition, the measure ratifies hygiene behaviors to be taken into account by port personnel, such as respecting “safety distances of at least 2 metres” and having “alcohol gel at the foot of the gangplanks”.

Among other issues, these vessels must present "at least 72 hours prior to entering the Río de La Plata canal and prior to the boarding of the Pilot," the Maritime Health Declaration establishing "the sanitary conditions of the vessel upon arrival, plus the information that corresponds to the origin and any other information that is required” to ensure that its crew members are not possibly infected.

Ships coming from the Paraná-Paraguay Waterway and that have not touched any Argentine port are also required to present this same documentation. Although in this case it must be “at least 48 hours prior” to their arrival, No one arriving from abroad will be allowed to enter the dock without prior authorization..

Meanwhile, it is added that “Extreme care will be taken in contact with crew members”, if the ship in question comes from areas defined as high risk of contagion by the World Health Organization (WHO). So far, these places are “the Member States of the European Union, members of the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, the Republic of Korea, the State of Japan, the People's Republic of China, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Brazil and Chile, in addition to countries that may be added in the near future.”

The measure, signed by the general manager of the General Port Administration, José Beni, came into effect immediately
