Government establishes new procedure for distributing sugar export quota to the US

The Ministry of Agriculture established the procedure for the registration and distribution of the export quota for raw sugar with a polarization of no less than 96º and its extensions, destined for the United States, through the 33 / 2019 resolution published today in the Official Gazette.

The United States annually allocates Argentina a raw sugar export quota, which for the period 2018/2019 was set at 45.281 tons, and once the polarization margin was deducted, corresponding to an industrial process specific to the product, amounted to 43.243,36 tons.

The new resolution determined that they will be Export quota holders are the legal entities that are owners and tenants of sugar mills; legally constituted sugarcane producer cooperatives; and sugar marketing companies owned by independent sugarcane growers from maquila contracts.

He also indicated that the implementing authority may require applicants to submit relevant documentation in order to verify compliance with the requirements set forth in this article.

In the case of companies marketing maquila sugars, they must reliably prove the origin of said sugars, attaching the respective contracts, duly authenticated, within 30 calendar days from the end of the calendar year.

The distribution of the quota will be carried out taking into consideration the export history to all destinations. during the calendar year preceding its distribution, without taking into account the American quota, according to the zero copy of the shipping certificates issued by the General Directorate of Customs.

In order to accredit the exports referred to in the previous article, Beneficiaries must, from January 1 of each year until January 31 of the same year, attach through the remote processing platform (TAD)), using the form called "Presentation of shipping certificates - Raw Sugar Export", the respective shipping certificates, and the application authority is empowered to verify the accuracy of the data provided.
