The Government decided to set a quota for exporting leather without withholdings, through the decree 847/2019.
The measure of the current administration, published this Monday (09.12.2019) in the Official Gazette, indicates that it is "dtax, from the entry into force of this measure until December 31, 2021, of the Export Duty (ED) established in Annex XIII of Decree No. 1126 of December 29, 2017 and its amendments, to the export operations of the goods included in the tariff items of the Common Nomenclature of MERCOSUR (NCM) detailed in ANNEX I.
The text clarifies that the established tax relief will apply to a maximum limit of two million (2.000.000) units corresponding to the goods indicated.
The legislation explains that the measure aims to reverse the negative indicators of the Argentine economy, through concrete actions aimed at overcoming the crisis that this sector is going through, eliminating the obstacles and restrictions that limit its full development capacity, with the goal of strengthening its production, regional economies and livestock markets in general.
The text also states that it is necessary to establish a treatment in accordance with the needs of the leather market in order to improve its export levels and competitiveness.
The measure, in the form of President Mauricio Macri, the Chief of Staff, Marcos Peña, and the Ministers of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Luis Miguel Etchevehere, Production and Labor, Dante Sica, and Finance, Hernán Lacunza, will come into effect immediately.
