The National Government distributed an import quota of tractors, trucks, chassis with engine and engines, all powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), through the Provision 1/2020 of the Undersecretariat of Industry published this Thursday (13.08.2020) in the Official Gazette.
The current distribution quota is 20 engines; 20 chassis with engine and cabin or with engine; and 80 road tractors for semi-trailers and trucks, all running on CNG, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) or Biogas, which may be imported with the planned tariff reduction, corresponding to the period between July 2 and October 1, 2020.
This group is joined by another quota of 16 CNG engine units not used in previous quarters.
According to Decree 440/2019, engines, chassis with engine and cabin, or with engine, all powered by CNG, LNG or biogas, pay an extra-zone import duty (DIE) of 2%.
For their part, road tractors for semi-trailers and trucks that use engines with the same fuels will have to pay a DIE of 5%.
On this occasion, Industry assigned two tractors to Scania; 36 engines and 10 tractors to CNH Industrial; and four tractors to Corven.
Meanwhile, September 2 was set as the deadline for companies interested in importing goods to submit a quota request for the period between October 2 and January 1, 2021.
