The state-owned company Jujuy Energía y Minería (Jemse) signed the concession contract for the future free zone to be located in the Jujuy city of Perico, which will allow progress to be made with the presentation of the executive project and the start of works, they officially reported.

Following the concession agreement, there are 60 days to submit the executive project and the complementary documentation to begin the relevant infrastructure works on the land designated for the free zone, which will be located 33 kilometers south of the capital of Jujuy.

«The importance of signing this contract lies in making the previously proposed guidelines that give substance to the project a reality.«, explained Jemse President Carlos Oehler.

The official said that the steps to follow are "the preparation and subsequent publication of environmental impact studies with the approval of the Ministry of the Environment as the implementing authority, as well as the planned infrastructure works«.

He also stated that with the "feasibility" of the approved environmental impact study, the works can now begin, "making possible this enormous project that will bring countless benefits to the province in general and to the people of Perique in particular.«.

Jujuy will have two free trade zones, one will be located on a 50-hectare plot on National Route 9, in the south of La Quiaca, which will be enabled for retail and automobile sales, while the Perico tax-free zone will have a productive and industrial character.

The president of the Free Trade Zones Authority, Martin Luque, and the legal representative of the concessionaire UTE JEMSE-JUMI, Ignacio Bruera, participated in the signing of the concession contract, under the supervision of the notary of the Jujuy government, Emilse Bártulos.
