Customs has ordered an exemption from the mandatory use of seals for cargo transport in Tierra del Fuego.
The agency reported that the use of Electronic Customs Monitoring Seal (PEMA) is not mandatory for the means that transport merchandise in the cities of Rio Grande and Ushuaia, as it is a Special Customs Area.
At the same time, the Resolution 2-E/2018 establishes that the measure will be implemented after a alternative control to ensure the unalterability of the transported loads.
Such use of the satellite monitoring and control tool was introduced in 2006 within the framework of the Customs Transit Security Initiative (ISTA, resolution) and through the use of a PEMA, the Argentine Customs determines and knows - in real time - the route deviations, detentions, news, contingencies or alarms that are established during the course of operations in order to adopt the necessary measures for the protection of the merchandise.
The regulation, published this Wednesday (17.01.2018) in the Official Gazette, is signed by Diego Javier Dávila.
