The Government established quotas on the extra-zone import of trucks with engines designed to use Compressed Natural Gas, Liquefied Natural Gas or Biogas as fuel, through the decree 440/2019.
The measure, published this Monday (1.07.2019) in the Official Gazette, «It establishes as a maximum limit of new, unused total units, which may effectively be imported under this measure, eight hundred (800) trucks that use conventional internal combustion engines designed to use gas as fuel, two hundred (200) truck engines with gas motorization and two hundred (200) chassis with minibus engines with gas motorization.«.
Furthermore, the text clarifies that "the Application Authority may order, when environmental, energy and/or transport logistics reasons so warrant and with the intervention of the competent bodies, a reduction to the maximum limit of the units provided. To this end, said reduction must be ordered at least ninety (90) days in advance of its entry into force."
The rate will apply to import operations carried out until December 31, 2021.
The decree, signed by Vice President Gabriela Michetti, Chief of Cabinet of Ministers Marcos Peña, and Ministers of Finance Nicolás Dujivne and Production and Labor Dante Sicca, will come into force on July 2, 2019.
