Business leaders to meet in WTO parallel forum

Leaders of various multinationals and senior officials from several countries will participate in a business forum organized by the Argentine government in Buenos Aires on December 12, 2017, within the framework of the agenda of the 11th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The symposium, which will be held in parallel with the meeting in Buenos Aires of the trade ministers of the countries that make up the WTO, seeks to promote a "channel for open and constructive dialogue" through which the The private sector will be able to convey its vision to governments on the most important issues of world trade.

According to Mauricio Macri's Executive, the ministers of trade, production, industry and services from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, Sweden and the European Union Trade Commissioner confirmed their participation in the forum.

Among the companies present will be: Microsoft, Monsanto, OpenBank, Telefónica, DHL, E-Bay, Facebook and Google.

"This Forum will be Argentina's legacy to the WTO ministerial meetings, with the aim of including the voice of the private sector in support of the multilateral trading system and institutionalizing dialogue with the private sector," said the Minister of Production, Francisco Cabrera.

The event will also allow us to analyze "key topics" such as facilitating the internationalization of micro, small and medium enterprises; as well as the "opportunities and challenges" that the expansion of the E-commerce and the acceleration of technological changes.

Also the importance of ensuring "inclusive trade" and alternatives to achieve results in agricultural trade negotiations.

The Business Forum is organized by the Ministry of Production with the support of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the World Economic Forum (WEF) and Business 20 (B20).
